If possible, have a helper do the measuring in order to get a more accurate measurement. The circumference of the head should be measured at a point approximately one inch above the eyebrows, or at whatever point gives the largest possible measurement. I don't know if I have a weird shaped head or if this was just made for a weird shaped head, the helmet fit really good around my forehead, but on the sides it didn't even touch my cheeks, when I tried moving my head back and forth the helmet was so loose that if would flop around. Also, for me to be able to see clearly out of the visor (forwards and to the sides) I had to place the helmet so far down on my face that I was breathing straight onto the visor and it was about half way up the back of my head... and that didn't seem very safe. I loved the design and I wish it had fit me better, I returned this helmet. Hopefully I can find one that I like as much as this one but will actually fit.
